# Talmanac

> Talmanac is an iOS app that turns a parent's voice into bedtime. Parents record six short passages once, and the app generates a fresh, age-appropriate story every night, read aloud in Mom's or Dad's voice. Stories are cached locally for offline replay.

Talmanac (formerly StoryTime) is built for parents who can't always be home for bedtime — work travel, deployments, divorces, distance, grief — and for parents who simply want to extend the magic of being read to. Voice samples are cloned with the parent's explicit consent, stored privately, and never used to train shared models.

## Story parameters

- Listener age: 1 through 10
- Mood / occasion: bedtime, nap, playtime
- Length: short (~2 min), medium (~5 min), long (~8 min)
- Optional spark: a one-line nudge ("a sleepy forest", "a kind rabbit") to steer the story

## Technical

- Platform: iOS 18.2+, native Swift 6 / SwiftUI app
- Voice cloning: ElevenLabs Instant Voice Cloning (parent-controlled, deletable)
- Story generation: Anthropic Claude (cloud) or Apple Intelligence (on-device when available)
- Offline: Each story's audio is cached on device for replay without a network
